The next regular Wise County School Board meeting has not yet been scheduled.  We will post the date and time as soon as possible.  Meetings are usually on the second Monday of the month at 6:00 p.m. in the Education Center, Conference Room A.  Please plan to attend and represent St. Paul and our efforts to promote community schools, and as always, WEAR PURPLE!

Membership

Membership in the St. Paul High School Alumni Association is FREE to all SPHS Alumni, anyone that attended any of the St. Paul schools, and all friends of SPHS.  Membership includes a listing in the password protected directory available only to our members.   Register here now.

  • We want to share with you some very exciting news coming from St. Paul High School. Click on the NEWSLETTER link above to learn more about what you can do to support two students and one mentor at the GLOBE Learning Expedition and 12th Annual Conference in Cape Town, South Africa! We are very proud of our students’ participation in the GLOBE program and the WATeR Project, and are excited about the possibility of taking their message around the world.   • SPHSAA has learned that alumnus Scott Hamilton, SPHS Class of 1988, was diagnosed with esophageal cancer on February 26, 2008. Scott is using CaringBridge (http://www.caringbridge.org) to host his journal as he goes through this journey. You can get to Scott’s journal directly by going to http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/scotthamilton. 

  • The 10th Annual Clinch River Festival will be held on May 30th, May 31st and June 1st, 2008. Every year the town of St. Paul, Virginia comes alive with the flavors of the region during Clinch River Days. This is a perfect opportunity for alumni to meet! Come home to St. Paul for a weekend of fun in the mountains and a celebration of the Clinch River! For more information, including a schedule of events, go to http://clinchriverfestival.com

  • Two new letters in support of our community schools - one from April Cain and another from Bruce Puckett - have been added to the "We Get Letters" link on the VCS web page.

An old clipping has been added to the Scrapbook, accessible via the PHOTOS AND SPIRIT link above, compliments of Frank and Connie Molinary.  Frank says "I recall him at St Paul School about once a year in the mid to late 50's when these types of acts played the school circuits.  We used to call his horse 'SawDust'. "

25-Feb-2008 - The following updates have been made in the last few days:

  • The MESSAGE BOARDS have been updated; hopefully, they are more user-friendly.  All members have the ability to read posts, reply to existing posts, or start new discussions. Please read 'These are the rules' before posting.
  • The following improvements and updates have been made to the VCS website:
    • New content has been added.
    • Minutes, notes and info on VCS meetings have been moved from the home page to another page.
    • Newspaper articles have been moved from the home page to another page.
    • A cross-section of letters we receive have been added to a new page.  We ask that letters be posted to the SPHSAA MESSAGE BOARDS. Posts to the MESSAGE BOARDS are private and may only be viewed by members of the St. Paul Alumni Association.

30-Nov-2007 - Deacon Madness - Deacons Alumni Basketball Game Friday, November 30th!

A write-up and two photos from the First Annual Deacon Madness Alumni basketball games have been added to the NEWSLETTER link above.  The boys and girls varsity teams look strong this year.  The alumni, not so much.

14-Nov-2007 - Site Reorganization

Several organizational changes have been made today.  The minutes from the board meetings have been moved from the top menu bar to a link off the ABOUT page.  The NEWSLETTER page has been reformatted, and several school and town related links have been added.  Finally, the IN MEMORIAM page now has its own location on the top menu bar.  We hope you enjoy the changes we are making.  Please explore the site and give us your feedback!

21-Oct-2007 - Deacons Alumni Basketball Game Friday, November 30th!

St. Paul High School will be having the first annual Deacon Alumni Game versus the 2007-2008 boy's and girl's basketball teams.  The event will be held on Friday, November 30, 2007 starting at 7:00 pm during the annual  Deacon Madness.  This event is held each year to give the community an opportunity to meet the current SPHS basketball teams.  Any former St. Paul basketball player, male or female, interested in participating in the first annual alumni game, please contact Patrick Damron or Walt Padgett at SPHS, (276) 762-5221 or (276) 762-2172.
